wiser lovers: gracious wisdom for life-giving women on loving (and living) well.
humble, gracious, generous: on becoming a wiser lover.
hello, friend. i’m hillary mcfarland: writer, artist, mother, wife. welcome.
wiser lovers is an online journal about loving well. my words and work, both here and everywhere, are designed to encourage you to live a deeper, wiser life guided by scripture and the holy spirit. beginning with who, how, and what we love.
i write thoughtful (& mostly raw) essays on grace, motherhood, home tending, creativity, and more. as a woman of deep faith, i write for women like me who fervently love (and want to love well) our creator & artist of heaven and earth, along with our lives, our homes, and especially the people who dwell in them.
along with personal essays, i also share revelations from scripture and encouragement for cultivating a flourishing spiritual life. occasionally i write book reviews, make art, and offer inspiring quotes, poetry, music, artworks, and other reflections of beauty, found or made.
here. welcome to my home. come right in to the mess and the mercy.
coffee? herbal tea? snuggle into soft, cozy blankets on my sofa (unless it’s junejulyaugustseptember because: texas) and let me hand you a soft velvet pillow in the color of gentle moss. the children can play. i may need to stop and tend to a cute little bottom, but it’s holy work here. let’s talk about the goodness and grace of God.
One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
{Ps. 27:4}
