We all have songs we play on repeat, soundtracks that run alongside the deepest and most tender places where hope and longing and lament reside. Sometimes, when words don’t come, these melodies fill in the blanks and give our hearts (and eyes) a way to spill forth with salt and psalms and other groanings that cannot be uttered. Certain songs and vocal artists seem to hold a mirror up to heaven and remind us that this world is not our home; hold on, hold fast, you are loved.
